TIPS FOR SYNONYMS TASKS
1. Use process of elimination to narrow down your options, focusing on the words you already know.
2. Watch out for word types. A noun cannot be a synonym for a verb, adjective or adverb etc. For example, you could get caught out by the words 'happy' and 'joyfully'. One is an adjective and the other is an adverb. It would have to be 'happy' and 'joyful' to match.
3. Note down all of the words you do not know and use the opportunity to expand your vocabulary.
4. Don’t get caught out by associated words. Just because ‘slumber’ means sleep and you sleep when you are tired, does not mean that ‘slumber’ and ‘tired’ mean the same thing
